Calling Ceilidhs for Weddings is how Hedgerow Tipple began, so it is not surprising they are particularly experienced at getting it just right, ensuring the wedding celebrations are a memorable part of the happy couple’s most important day.
WEDDING CEILIDHS
A Ceilidh is the perfect event for a perfect wedding. It delights all ages and requires no previous knowledge or ability. It creates a celebratory atmosphere and is a real opportunity for all of the guests to get on their feet and have fun after the formalities of the speeches etc.
Anna & Andy have over 20 years experience calling Ceilidhs for wedding celebrations. Their warm delivery, fantastic choice of music and feel-good dances are always well received.
Booking Options
Hedgerow Tipple can be reserved for bookings up to 1 year in advance. They are always happy to meet with the couple both in advance of a formal booking to discuss options for the evening celebrations and before the day itself. Couples have the choice to keep to a more traditional Celtic Ceilidh feel or go for a more English Country Barn Dance flavour~ generally though they’ve found a mix of traditional & contemporary Scottish, English & Irish dances goes down best of all.
They will willingly include any favourites and have a large repertoire of dances for all ages and abilities to choose from. They are skilled at judging their audience and are frequently complimented on getting the balance just right.
Obviously they are also happy to support all other aspects of a wedding including the first dance, speeches (use of mics), background music (use of PA system etc) ~ they will be thoroughly led by the couple’s wishes. They are happy to offer advice on timings, wedding etiquette, lighting and technical details too.
They also have a range of ‘first dance’ options for those couples who are unsure about what to do – including a lovely simple dance where the newlyweds acknowledge every guest.
Ceilidh/Disco Mix
Though Anna & Andy believe a Ceilidh on its own will keep the celebrations going all night they are happy to switch to a disco/chart hits later on if the couple feel they would like to have a change of mood for the younger guests.
They can play their own compilations of popular chart hits or any pre-prepared playlist through their PA system should you want a bit of a boogie during the night & can also bring disco lighting if required.
Fees & Legalities
Hedgerow Tipple have full Public Liability insurance for £5m and all their equipment has a PAT electrical safety certificate.
Booking a live Ceilidh/Barn dance band usually means paying for each musician’s time as well as the Caller so this is where husband and wife team Anna & Andy believe they can make a real difference – offering a great evening’s entertainment at a fraction of the cost of a live band. As a guide the cost of a Hedgerow Tipple Wedding Ceilidh generally ranges between £350 ~ £500, depending very much on the distances involved, the timings/set up arrangements on the day, the duration of the entertainment, whether disco/lighting is required and the scale of the event.
Hedgerow Tipple require no staging and less set-up space than a live band so can easily perform in more modest sized halls, hotels & marquees where a band might struggle to fit – however if the couple were set on a live band Anna does know a few great bands she is happy to Call with though this would obviously depend on their availability.
Cancellations
If you decide to cancel a booking they would very much appreciate as much notice as possible as obviously this greatly affects their availability for other couples and events. They understand that sometimes things happen beyond your control & don’t feel it’s fair to charge a deposit if the decision to move dates/venues etc has to happen. (Their own wedding reception venue was double booked by the parish clerk so they had to move their wedding day forwards a month!) However they treat every booking with the highest level of commitment and expect the booking to be viewed with the same degree of respect.
To reassure you, over the last 15 years they have NEVER had to cancel a ceilidh/barn dance booking but obviously should the unthinkable happen they would always give you as much notice as possible. As they do not take any payment until after the event they are unable to offer compensation payments should they have to cancel (say due to accident/illness or injury) but they do have valuable contacts with other bands & callers so they would do their best to find replacements for you.
General Bookings
Anna & Andy welcome bookings for any event whether it be a Special Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas party or any other social occasion. They will always offer a discount for charity fund-raising events.
